Internet High Stakes Poker- Gus Hansen

Gus Hansen had a wonderful year on the WPT where he was the only one to achieve final poker table in three of the competitions. Gus Hansen has appeared on High Stakes Poker on GSN where he paid $400, 000 to play. You might recall one of the largest pots in high stakes poker recorded history up against Daniel Negreanu. Gus won a large pot with quads against Daniel’s full house. Hansen has earned many tv poker appearances and is considered to be one of the greatest gamblers anywhere in the world. While wagering on internet poker, a different side of Hansen has been seen. Gus regularly competes in the 200/400 NL max buy-in of $40, 000. Gus generally buys in for the min of $16, 000 and plays very poorly. He sits there waiting for a good hand and then goes all in. I believe Hansen is a great poker player but certainly not even close to the everyday players at 200/400no limit. Unless he is penniless, he has absolutely no reason to play at the game with the min buy-in.

Playing for the minimum takes a majority of the expertise out of deep stack poker. Hansen is assumed to be 1 of the best poker players anywhere in the world but he cannot buy-in for the total amount. I believe television can skew our perception of the real world sometimes. The best poker players anywhere in the world may be players you have never heard of. Gus can be found participating in internet poker on Full Tilt. He normally participates in big stakes omaha hold’em and Holdem. Gus has proven himself as a competition player. Can he use his abilities in money rounds?
