No-Limit Texas Hold’em Poker- Who is Phil Ivey?

[ English ]

Phil Ivey has been labeled as the best poker contender on the planet by many of the top-ranked pros. Phil was born in Riverside, CA and relocated to New Jersey before his first birthday. His grandpa taught Phil penny-ante Five-Card Stud poker. From that point on, Phil was hooked on poker and wished to learn everything he could about poker. He would tell his grandparents that he wanted to be a professional poker player. He did not allow the detrimental comments from others destroy his goal of being one of the greatest poker players on the planet.

He began competing intently after getting a fake ID by the name of Jerome. He honed his skills at the poker rooms in Atlantic City. The first number of years for him were a teaching opportunity and winning was not a common outcome at the time. He became known at the 2000 World Series of Poker where he made two final tables and won his first WSOP bracelet, in a $2, 500 Pot-Limit Omaha match. At the final table he defeated quite a few of the well known professionals including but not limited to "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.

Phil made a decision to take his skills to the successive level and headed out west to Sin City. He continues to play in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the greatest players on the planet. Phil credits his achievements to discipline and an eternal passion for poker. He states that he’s picking up skills every single day and is quite abashed about his accomplishments. Phil knows he makes blunders in each session of poker and constantly aspires to get better.

Despite the fact that Ivey has come first in some big tournaments, he prefers destroying money games on a regular basis.
