Gus Hansen had a wonderful year on the World Poker Tour where he was the only player to make it to the final poker table in 3 of the tournaments. Gus Hansen has been seen on High Stakes Poker on The Game Show Network where he paid $400, 000 to play. You may recall one of the largest pots in high stakes poker recorded history up against Daniel Negreanu. He won a large pot with quads against Negreanu’s full house. Hansen has earned many tv poker appearances and is deemed to be one of the best enthusiasts around the world. While gambling on online poker, a different side of Hansen has appeared. He regularly competes in the 200/400 NL maximum buy-in of Forty Thousand dollars. Hansen usually buys-in for the min of Sixteen Thousand dollars and gambles very poorly. He waits for a decent hand and then pushes all-in. I accept that Gus is a great poker player but not even close to the regular players at 200/400no limit. Unless Gus is bankrupt, he has no reason to play at the table with the min buy-in.
Playing for the minimum takes almost all of the ability out of big stack poker. Hansen is assumed to be 1 of the greatest players in the world but he cannot buy in for the full amt.. I think television can alter our view of the real world at times. The best players in the world may be players you have will not have heard of. Gus can be seen participating in internet poker on Full Tilt. He usually participates in high stakes omaha eight-or-better and Holdem. Gus has shown himself as a tournament player. Can he use his skills in cash rounds?
