Ah, the poker steam. If a poker gambler claims never to have stared faced over the shadow of an upcoming poker tilt – they’re either lying or they have not been gambling very long. This does not mean of course that every player has gone on steam in the past, a handful of players have wonderful willpower and take their losses as a loss and keep it at that. To be a strong poker gambler, it’s very important to treat your wins and your losses in an identical way – with little emotion. You participate in the game in the same manner you did after taking a hard loss as you would after winning a huge hand. Most of the poker pros are not attracted by tilting following a horrible loss as they are incredibly experienced and you must be to.
You have to understand that you will not win each hand you’re in, even if you are the strongest player. Hands that usually cause people go on tilt are hands that you were the favorite or at a minimum believed you were up until you were side swiped and you lost a gigantic portion of your bankroll. Awful beats are going to happen. Accept that fact right now, I will say it once more – if your sister plays cards, if your father plays cards, if your grandparents enjoy cards – We all have bad losses sometime. It’s an inevitable outcome of competing in Texas Holdem, or for that matter any kind of poker.
Seeing as we are assumingly (almost all of us) in the game for a single purpose – to earn a profit, it certainly makes sense that we would play appropriately to maximize profits. Now let us say you are up one hundred dollars off of a 100 dollars deposit, and you suffer a gigantic hit in a No Limits game and your bankroll is only has remaining one hundred and twenty dollars. You have burned $80 in a hand where you should have picked up $200two hundred dollars when you went all-in on the flop and had a ten to one edge. And that guy! He sucked you out on the river? – Well stop right there. This is a classic choice for a fresh bettor to begin tilting. They really just blew too much $$$$ on one round that they really should have won and they are pissed
