Annie Duke may not have won her first WSOP Bracelet until ‘04 but she is one of the most feared poker players at the cash games at The Bellagio in vegas. Annie’s longawaited World Series of Poker bracelet came with success at the "cast aside game" of Omaha hi low.
While competitors from the "younger crowd" of poker go crazy after a large win at the tournament, Annie goes home and becomes "mom" to her four kids. She grew up in New Hampshire into a family of poker competitors. If you do not believe that, check out her brother, Howard Lederer, in action who taught her how to compete in the game.
However, Annie Duke is no small fry kind of girl and has captured her share of demanding tables, including knocking out Howard a few times along the way. They’re both competitors that have the capability to win the big money and do it with a smile.
Annie Duke is a tough competitor at any table considering that she is a true poker player, but it is a little more than simply being great at the game. Mrs. Duke is surprisingly smart and graduated from Columbia U where she took a double major in Psychology and English.
When you sit across from Annie at the poker table you know Annie Duke is there to compete in the game and she starts "summing" you up from the time you approach the table. If you can not compete like a camp, then don’t waste your time.
Acquiring over $3 million in tournament play, Annie Duke became a adviser to both the UltimateBet poker room and actor Ben Affleck, who wanted to enhance his talents and become a power at the poker table.
You might see her at the Bellagio, you’ll definitely see her on TV and you may even play against her in a web poker match, but don’t expect a simple win. Except of course you’re a camp-in-the-making, you will not beat her. However, it’d be fun to say you sat at the at the table with "The Duke".
